God is the certainty you are searching for.

358A17FC-8294-4FFF-86CF-04C0979C64CFWe find ourselves in unprecedented times because of the COVID-19 pandemic.  Some countries are still in lock down and others are slowly opening up , trying to figure out how to resume life with the existence of this deadly virus. Like many others, i wonder and ponder on what life is going to be like post lock down. The most common statement that captures the situation is UNCERTAINTY.  I was praying about this recently when the Holy Spirit spoke so clearly to me reminding me that as His children, we are in this world but not of it.  We are not to live fearful lives but to live sure and confident in our heavenly Father.

We have CERTAINTY. God is our CERTAINTY. His WORD is the only CERTAINTY we ever really need in this life.

God’s word is sure and reliable. God is as sure as His word. His word is alive and powerful. In His word we will find wisdom, understanding, clarity, direction and counsel for any season and time we are in. There is truly nothing new under the sun. God’s word is truth. All scripture is inspired by God and is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realise what is wrong in our lives. It corrects us when we are wrong and teaches us to do what is right. God uses it to prepare and equip His people to do every good work. (2 Timothy 3: 16-17 NLT) .

Jesus said in Matthew 24: 35:  ‘Heaven and Earth will pass away, but His words will by no means pass away.’  The timelessness of God’s word extends into every generation and sphere of influence. While the world spirals into uncertainty, God’s children have an opportunity to reflect the power and certainty in God and His word. There has never been a greater time than now. We rise to the occasion and declare God’s word of truth to situations and circumstances that many may come to God and glorify Him.

God honors His word. For You have magnified Your word above all Your name. (Psalm 138:2) We should never take God’s word lightly or casually. We should remember to Honor His word and take Him very seriously. When He speaks , He means whatever He is saying. God is a man of His word.  God is not like men who say one thing, but do another, who tell lies.  For as the rain comes down, and the snow from heaven, And do not return there, But water the earth, And make it bring forth and bud, That it may give seed to the sower And bread to the eater, So shall My word be that goes forth from My mouth; It shall not return to Me void, But it shall accomplish what I please, And it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it. (Isaiah 55: 10-11)

In light of this assurance, we have the confidence to rely on and trust God and His word. When we go before Him sincerely and purely with no puffed up agendas, He will give us a word. A word that has the power to sustain and strengthen us in that season or matter.  Most of us use prayer to just let God know about our troubles and issues, which is fine but that in itself is incomplete communication if we do not take the time to hear back from God on those issues. Communication is only complete when the sender gets communication back from the receiver. In that sense, when we pray, yes we speak to God but we also have to take the time to listen to Him, His perspective on whatever we have been informing Him about. The Holy Spirit is available to communicate the Father and the Son’s heart on the matter.  However, when He, the Spirit of truth, has come, He will guide you into all truth; for He will not speak on His own authority, but whatever He hears He will speak; and He will tell you things to come. 14 He will glorify Me, for He will take of what is Mine and declare it to you. 15 All things that the Father has are Mine. Therefore I said that He will take of Mine and declare it to you. (John 16:13-15).

I urge and encourage us to commit intentionally to spending time with God in His word; the written word. There in He speaks clearly and audibly to our souls , revealing His heart of love for us.  There will always be so much vying for your time and attention but until you intentionally set out to spend time in the word, living with the fears and anxiety of uncertainty becomes normal. We don’t have to walk around defeated and dejected when we have the GOD of the Universe as our God. You can ask God for a word concerning that situation. that word will be a lifeline, a weapon you can use to stand firm in faith when the enemy assails you with doubts and fear. That word will strengthen you and give you courage to stand in faith and wait on the Lord.

Has God given you a specific word on an issue and you are waiting for the manifestation of that word in your life? I want to encourage you today that in His perfect time that word will be accomplished. Its only a matter of time and you will see Him accomplish what He has spoken to you, over you and even through you.

Prayer:

Precious Father, ignite in us your children a desire for you, for your precious word. Help us to live loved, certain and hopeful in a world of so much fear, anxiety and uncertainty. Help us to see the distractions of the enemy for what they are and grace us to overcome them. In the name above all other names, Jesus Christ i pray, AMEN.
